Winsor & Newton is a British fine art materials brand founded in 1832 by chemist William Winsor and artist Henry Newton at 38 Rathbone Place in London, a quarter where John Constable had his studio, and now a subsidiary of ColArt Group, ultimately owned by Swedish Lindéngruppen. Granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria in 1841 when she commissioned the iconic Series 7 Kolinsky Sable brush still made to this day, Winsor & Newton also invented the collapsible metal paint tube that enabled Impressionist plein air painting.
